History

The reloading-bench company

Frankford Arsenal is the reloading-tool brand of American Outdoor Brands, manufactured by AOB Products Company —the name printed in its catalogue footers. It makes no firearms, ammunition, powder or bullets: it makes the machines and tools with which a handloader builds a cartridge. There is no corporate epic to tell, and the company does not tell one: it publishes neither a founding date nor a company history. It publishes a catalogue.

That catalogue is arranged around the life cycle of a case, and that is the most honest way to read it. Cleaning: vibratory tumbling with corn-cob or walnut media, or rotary tumbling with stainless-steel pins and liquid, the only method that reaches inside the case and the primer pocket. Preparation: trim to length, chamfer, decap and remove the military primer crimp. Dispensing and measurement: scales accurate to ±0.1 grain, micrometer powder measures and callipers. Pressing: single-stage, coaxial, turret or progressive. Storage: the numbered box and the label on which the load is recorded.

Since 2023 the catalogue has revolved around the X-10, a ten-station auto-indexing progressive press that swages the primer pocket on the press itself —processing military brass in one pass— and carries LED lighting in the turret, a feature which the maker says no press outside its own range includes. Around it are shell plates, tool heads, a bullet feeder, calibre-conversion kits and seven separate spare parts: even the indexing carriage is sold on its own.

Of the products that cross customs to reach Spain, the bulk is the X-10 and its tooling, followed by case boxes and trays. The machines arrive in their international 220 or 230 V versions, ready to plug in here without a transformer.
