History
Torque as a trade
Wheeler is the gunsmithing-tool brand of American Outdoor Brands, manufactured by AOB Products Company —the name printed in the footers of its catalogues—. It makes neither firearms nor ammunition: it makes the tools used to assemble, adjust and maintain them. The company publishes no founding year or corporate history; it does publish a limited lifetime warranty on its products and a catalogue arranged by task: torque, scope mounting, AR tools and bench gunsmithing.
The tool that gives it its name is the F.A.T. Wrench —Firearm Accurizing Torque—, a hand torque driver adjustable from 10 to 65 in-lb. That range is deliberate: it covers scope bases and rings and action screws, precisely where the manufacturer identifies the problem —a poorly torqued screw damages an optic or fails in the field—. The digital version extends the lower end to 5 in-lb, as required by a reflex sight, and gives both an audible and a screen warning on reaching the figure. F.A.T. Stix take the same idea into the range bag: limiters preset to 15, 25, 35, 45 and 65 in-lb, with nothing to adjust, and reversible so they also loosen.
Three more areas surround that wrench. Scope mounting: bars that show whether the two rings are misaligned before the scope is inserted, a lapping bar that sizes their bearing surface to the actual tube, and levels that reference the optic to the action rather than the face of the base. Driver sets, with hollow-ground flat bits: the company’s engineers measured the screws on more than one hundred modern and historic firearms to decide which bits were needed, which is why the fifteen speciality bits in the 89-piece set include one for the Smith & Wesson rebound slide and another for 1911 grip screws. And the Delta Series, the AR-15 line: armourer’s vise, receiver blocks, combination wrench, pin tools and a maintenance mat printed with an exploded diagram.

Torque
F.A.T. Wrench, Firearm Accurizing Torque. The wrench that gives the company its name and is included in half its kits.
F.A.T. Wrench
Hand torque driver adjustable from 10 to 65 in-lb: scope bases and rings, action screws and little else, which is where torque matters. A magnetic holder keeps the bit from falling, the grip is rubber-overmoulded and ten S2-steel bits are black-phosphated. The flat bits are hollow-ground, reaching the bottom of the slot without rounding it. Latched hard case.

Digital F.A.T. Wrench
The same wrench with a digital reading: LCD showing continuous and peak values, with audible and visual warnings on reaching the selected torque. The 2023 series extends the lower end to 5 in-lb, as required by a reflex sight; the previous series starts at 15 and carries S2-steel bits hardened to 56–58 HRC. Both include ten bits and a fitted case.
100-piece professional set with F.A.T. Wrench
The F.A.T. Wrench with 97 bits and adaptors: hollow-ground flats, Phillips, square, SAE and metric hex, Torx and speciality bits. It adds a separate 1/4-inch handle, also magnetic and rubber-overmoulded. Shafts and bits have a black-phosphate finish, and the hard case stacks with the company’s other sets.

F.A.T. Stix
Torque limiters preset to 15, 25, 35, 45 and 65 in-lb: there is nothing to adjust, only the correct one to select. They fit a T-handle and the set includes twelve common bits, a 1/2-inch socket and a 1/4-inch extension. They are reversible, so they also loosen without damaging the limiter. Soft carrying case.

Scope mounting
Align the rings, lap their bearing surfaces, level the scope to the firearm and tighten to torque. The company sells every step separately and all four together.
Ring alignment and lapping kits
Alignment bars make any vertical or horizontal offset between the two rings visible at a glance and allow it to be corrected before the scope tube pays the price. The lapping bar, with its handle and 220-grit compound, sizes the rings’ bearing surfaces to the actual tube.

Two magnetic levels working at once: one rests on the scope turret and the other attaches to the action. It levels the scope to the firearm rather than to the face of the base, exactly where the error otherwise enters. It works with virtually any bolt action.

Upper-receiver vise blocks
They hold the upper receiver in a vise for threading a barrel, overcoming a seized nut or simply cleaning. The polymer version is non-marring and solvent-resistant, with a support rod and integrated alignment to keep the barrel nut square; the machined-aluminium block engages the takedown lugs and, reversed, also holds most AR-10 receivers as well as any Picatinny rail.

Free-float fore-end strap wrench
Nylon-reinforced rubber strap that wraps free-floating fore-ends of any shape and tightens, loosens or holds them without scratching. It adjusts by hand and the handle has a rubber grip.

Compresses the delta ring with one hand to remove the two-piece fore-end of an AR-15 or M16. Formed wire wraps the ring, a welded steel brace withstands a seized or broken delta ring and vinyl coating protects the finish.

Bolt-catch punch kit
Two steel punches for the bolt-catch roll pin: one has a countersunk tip to start it without spreading it, the other an indexed tip to finish it flush. Each body has one flat side to rest straight and rubber overmoulding to avoid marking the firearm.

AR-15 bore guide

Roll-pin punches
Hardened steel so they neither bend nor break. Starters have a bevelled tip that catches the pin and drives it straight; drivers have a hemispherical tip that bears in the pin’s hollow without crushing it or marking the firearm. Nine sizes from 1/16 to 5/16 inch in a roll-up pouch.
Recoil-pad installation fixture
Transfers the stock’s toe and heel lines to the new recoil pad and holds it for sanding away from the firearm on a belt or bench disc sander. Cast-aluminium base and aluminium mounting bar.
